Father shot in western Sydney ambush saved partner’s life

The partner of a man who was shot dead at their western Sydney apartment has recalled the moment he saved her life.

Jimmy Alayan, 40, was shot multiple times as he stood in the complex on Gundaroo Street, Villawood, just after 9pm on Saturday night. 

The father was standing with his partner when witnesses say three men jumped out of a silver or grey sedan and fired three shots at the victim.

Mr Alayan’s partner, who did not wish to be identified, told 9 News he saved her life.

‘We were together, he had his arm around me and we were standing there,’ the woman said.

‘Then he said, “babe, get down”, and he just got shot instead of me.’

‘If he hadn’t done that, I would have been shot for sure. It should have been me…he saved me, 100 per cent.’

Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 9pm to find Mr Alayan in his partner’s arms with multiple gunshot wounds.

Police believe the attack was targeted and confirmed no arrests have been made

Tragically, he died in his partner’s arms.

They are are urging witnesses to come forward with any information about the three men and a silver or grey sedan seen in the area at the time of the shooting.
