Gold Coast man found dead in back yard was in fight the night

  • Police believe the 21-year-old found dead in his home was involved in a fight

  • He was found on Saturday morning just before 10am in the Gold Coast suburb 
  • Police have declared the death ‘suspicious’ and are investigating

The young man who was found dead in a residential property on the Gold Coast is believed to have been involved in an altercation at a pub the night before he was discovered.

The 21-year-old’s body was found on the back patio in the yard of a home in Mudgeeraba on just before 10am on Saturday morning.

Police told a press conference that it looks as if the man was involved in a fight at the Wallaby Hotel in Mudgeeraba.

Police believe that the other group of males involved in the fight could be up to seven.

Investigators are hoping to find these men to assist them with their inquiries.

Detective Inspector Marc Hogan, according to the Gold Coast Bulletin, said: ‘The victim has obvious injuries consistent with assault.’

The 21-year-old then returned to the hotel and later went home where he ‘consumed alcohol’.  

Police have declared the area a crime scene and are currently investigating, but initial reports suggest the death is suspicious.
