Kmart $49 beach trolley is a huge hit with mums

Another day, another Kmart item that has taken Australia by storm.

Mums across the country are now going crazy for the store’s $49 beach trolley, just one day after they excitedly posted snaps of the surprisingly useful $5 bikini bag.

The Foldable Beach Trolley sold out last summer and many Kmart stores are already watching their stock diminish – months before the season has even begun.

Mums have said the trolley is perfect for lugging towels, toys, and everything else a family needs for a nice day at the beach.

‘It’s the best $49 I’ve ever spent,’ mum Kristy Austin told Daily Mail Australia.

‘We use it for everything from the farmers market to the beach to bringing the washing in from the line.’

And that’s not all it seems to be good for.

Mum-of-four Lynn Cleave discovered that the trolley was the perfect place on the beach to give her tired five-month-old son a dry and sand-free place to sleep.

‘My husband came up with the genius idea to empty the beach cart, pad it with a couple of towels and make a handy little cot for him to lay in while he napped,’ she told Kidspot.

Lynn ‘went on a mission’ to find the trolley when she found out it was back in stores , and shared her ingenious hack on the Kmart Mums Australia Facebook group.

‘First trip with the Foldable Beach Trolley to the beach! Perfect for a tired baby at nap time. Carried two families worth of belongings down to the beach fairly easily,’ she wrote.

Other mums have since shared tales of how they’ve used the trolley everywhere from the markets to their farm.

Joanna Cox revealed to Kidspot that she immediately called her local store when she found out the beach trolley was back in store.

‘There was just one left, and they were happy to hold it for me,’ she said.

The trolley appears to still be in stock online – but if it’s popularity is any indication, it won’t be for long.

And it will join a growing list of beloved Kmart items, including a Dyson-inspired vacuum cleaner, $2 ice cube trays, and, most recently, a $5 bikini bag.

Thrifty mums and loyal Kmart shoppers have been posting snaps of the stylish waterproof bag online, with one popular account, Addicted To Bargains, sharing her surprise at how much the bag could hold.

‘On Mondays my daughter has swimming and I was over wet swimmers in the bag, so I grabbed this cute little waterproof bag from Kmart Australia for $5,’ she said.

The mother was shocked to find that the small bag not only fit her daughter’s swimmers, but a towel, goggles and swimming cap – all with room to spare.

She also noted that there was a matching $12 beach bag in the same pattern.

Another, Well Organised Life, said the compact bags worked perfectly as a way to organise swimming bags.

‘These will work a treat to organise our swimming bags! It could be bigger & fit a towel – but this would also be good to use for sunscreens & bits n pieces so they didn’t leak through the bag,’ she wrote.

Other uses for the bag included a way to store cloth nappies, a phone protector at the beach and even as a purse.

The 25cm x 29.5cm bag comes in four colours, and according to many, is already difficult to find in store due to its popularity.
