A man has been arrested over the fatal shooting of a Melbourne man who is believed to have predicted his own death on Snapchat.

The 19-year-old from Dandenong was arrested about 11.20am on Monday in relation to the alleged shooting that occurred in Springvale at 11.50pm on Sunday. 

Emergency responders arrived at Springvale Road following reports of a single gunshot, but were unable to revive the man. 

The victim, who is yet to be identified, died at the scene.

Witnesses said the man had predicted he was going to be shot and allegedly posted about it on Snapchat, encouraging people to go to the scene, 9news reported.

Victoria Police spokeswoman Alex Day said police believe the victim and shooter were known to each other.

‘At this stage of the investigation, police don’t believe this incident is linked to the other shootings in Melbourne this month,’ she said. 

His death follows a spate of shootings in Melbourne and is the fifth man who has died as a result of gun-related violence in a ten-day period. 

Last Friday, three men were shot outside the Melbourne Pavilion in Kensington around 10pm killing one, Ben Togiai, 30. 

Police have arrested Mikhael Myko, 25, and Abdullah El Nasher, 27, in connection to the killing.

Days later, another man, Mitat Rasimi, was found dead of multiple gunshot wounds in his car in Dandenong. 

Last Monday, 28-year-old Ali Ali, and Deniz Hasan, 40, were found dead in Meadow Heights just 500m apart.
