A 14-year-old girl has died after being struck down by a truck in a horror alleged hit-and-run while walking to school.
The teenager was crossing Whitehorse Road in Ringwood,Melbourne’s east, about 7am on Wednesday when she was hit.
The driver of the truck failed to stop at the scene.
A 39-year-old man has since come forward to the police and is assisting officers with their investigation.

Police said the brown-coloured light truck was seen driving away from the scene, east-bound on the Maroondah Highway.
Victoria Police told Daily Mail Australia the investigation was ongoing.
VicRoads urged motorists to avoid the area, or expect major delays.
