According to nutritionist Susie Burrell, the interest in plant-based diets has grown significantly in recent years.
‘A flexitarian is someone who has a primarily vegetarian diet but occasionally eats meat or fish,’ Susie said.
‘Dietary balance is all about consuming foods in the right amounts.
‘Eating more plant foods also does not mean you need to ditch the meat, eggs, dairy and fish unless you want to.’
The 28-year-old model says a protein-packed smoothie with blueberries, Greek yoghurt, raspberries and almonds is a breakfast favourite.
Erin says despite her busy work schedule, she always tries to make the healthiest possible choices even when she is on the run
‘More and more evidence suggests there are numerous health benefits associated with diets packed full of plant based foods, resulting in the growing number of flexitarians,’ she added.
Among the benefits of eating less red meat are a lower risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes and bowel cancer.
Erin says despite her busy work schedule, she always tries to make the healthiest possible choices even when she is on the run.
‘As my work can often been unpredictable with huge amounts of travel, it helps me maintain a healthy lifestyle on the go, whilst never feeling like I am depriving myself,’ Erin explained.

But the model says she doesn’t feel guilty about having a treat every now and again.
‘I certainly don’t beat myself up about it. This is why Flexitarianism resonated so strongly with me,’ Erin said.
‘Banning foods was always dangerous for me – nothing makes you crave something more than telling yourself you can’t have it.’
Erin also has a varied fitness regimen, consisting of strength exercises and yoga classes.
‘Like my diet, I try to hit the gym every day, however I know life doesn’t always allow for that! I usually do two personal training sessions a week with master trainer Ben Lucas, and then a mix of spin, strength and yoga classes for the remainder of the week,’ she says.
‘I find a varied fitness schedule certainly helps keep my mind motivated to keep fit and active – you can never get bored of you keep changing things up.’
