Thomas Markle expresses regret at not giving Meghan away and thanks ‘handsome’ Prince Charles

Thomas Markle has finally broken his silence over his highly publicised absence from the royal wedding as he expressed his regret at not walking his daughter Meghan down the aisle.

Speaking in his first ever TV interview, the 73-year-old described his sorrow at becoming a ‘footnote in one of the greatest moments in history’.

He revealed that he had spoken to Harry in a series of phone calls in which the prince asked for his daughter’s hand in marriage and they discussed issues such as Brexit and Donald Trump.

Mr Markle also thanked ‘handsome’ Prince Charles for stepping in on the day and giving his daughter away, adding that he was ‘jealous’ as he watched from a small apartment.
