Alejandro Garnacho’s brother has revealed that the Man United winger was dealing with a hamstring problem prior to playing the full 120 minutes in Sunday’s FA Cup win over Liverpool.

United beat their rivals in a thrilling clash to book their place in the semi-finals with Amad Diallo netting the winner in the last minute of extra-time.

Garnacho assisted the dramatic winning goal which came via an end-to-end counter attac.

And it’s even more impressive that he did so after his brother Roberto confirmed that his preparations for the game were impeded.

He posted on X: ‘Garnacho has trained 2 days this week due to a hamstring injury.

‘Still he is there running 120 minutes and giving the winning assist. I’m proud of you BIG BRO.’

Scott McTominay put United into an early lead on the day but Liverpool hit back through Alexis Mac Allister and Mohamed Salah before half-time.

Under pressure Erik ten Hag’s side offered little in response, but substitute Antony managed to level against the run of play in the 87th minute.

Liverpool sub Harvey Elliott put the Reds back in front in the 105th-minute but Marcus Rashford restored parity just seven minutes later before Diallo caused pandemonium in the stands at the death.
