Arsenal transfer news: Gunners ‘agree personal terms with Moises Caicedo’ after failed bid

Report in Ecuador claims Arsenal ‘have agreed personal terms with Moises Caicedo’ after failing with a £70m bid for the Brighton star in January… but Chelsea are ‘willing to pay more’ than the Gunners to land the midfielder

  • Arsenal have ‘agreed personal terms’ with Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo
  • Caicedo wants to play in the Champions League and Arsenal are his priority
  • However, they face competition from Chelsea, who are willing to pay more

Arsenal have agreed personal terms with Moises Caicedo but face competition from Chelsea for the Brighton midfielder, reports in Ecuador have claimed.

According to Teradeportes, Caicedo is eager to play in the Champions League and Arsenal are his priority at present.

However, the report states that Chelsea are eager to pay a higher fee for Caicedo, although they won’t be involved in Europe next season.

Liverpool also have an interest in the 21-year-old, although he is not considered a priority for Jurgen Klopp’s side at present.

It is widely expected that Caicedo will be allowed to leave Brighton this summer after a proposed move to Arsenal for £70m failed to materialise in January.

Arsenal are determined to add to their options in midfield, especially with Granit Xhaka set to join Bayer Leverkusen.

West Ham midfielder Declan Rice is a key target for the Gunners and they have also been heavily linked with Caicedo, who has produced some excellent performances for Brighton.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are planning for a significant rebuild under new manager Mauricio Pochettino.

With the Blues having an extremely large squad it is likely that there will be some high-profile departures from Stamford Bridge as well as some major new arrivals.

Caicedo has made 51 appearances for Brighton since joining the club in February 2021.
