An Austrian newspaper has made a series of mistakes in a published map of Australia.

The map published in the Austrian publication Kurier confused some of the country’s biggest cities, saying Sydney was in Victoria and Melbourne was in New South Wales.

The image was shared to Facebook with many poking fun at the mistakes.

‘Sydney will stop at nothing to be better than Melbourne,’ one commented.

‘At least they included Tasmania,’ someone said.

‘As an Austrian I feel SUCH SHAME,’ another commented.

‘I’ve always wanted to live in Sydney that saved me the move!’

Kurier also labelled the Indian Ocean as the Southern Ocean.
