Natalie, from Sydney, shared her glowing review after dining at Casoni – an eatery in Darlinghurst that serves up modern Italian-Asian fusion cuisines.

‘We ordered their Moreton Bay bug chilli tagliatelle, scampi spaghetti with coriander pesto and paccheri filled with wasabi cream and tomato bisque,’ the student said in her now-viral TikTok video.

‘Casoni is famous for their modern Italian cuisine with East Asian influence. A truly unique dining experience.’

The restaurant’s $39 Morton Bay bug tagliatelle comes with chilli bisque and garlic chive juice, garnished in dill, while the scampi spaghetti consists of scampi cream, coriander pesto and a golden curry powder.

She also tasted the paccheri filled with wasabi cream, a tomato bisque with leek and chilli oil, Amaebi prawns and nasturtium leaves.

‘Definitely worth a try. In my opinion, the flavours work so well together,’ she added.

The video has since been viewed more than 105,000 times, with many saying the unique dishes look ‘delicious’, ‘amazing’ and ‘sensational’.

But some suggested the meals look ‘expensive’ but Natalie insisted: ‘It’s tasty. Yes more on the expensive side but pretty reasonable portions. Would recommend for a special occasion for sure.’

Those who have dined at Casoni also shared their reviews, with dozens agreeing it’s certainly one of the ‘best Italian’ restaurants in Australia.

‘This is my favourite Italian place in Australia. I’m so over the boring traditional Italian. It doesn’t do anything for me. It doesn’t wow me. This is different. It’s exciting! I need to go back,’ one wrote.

‘Amazing, amazing, amazing! We had the most spectacular meal here. Honestly thought every dish was a stand out. If I had to pick a favourite I couldn’t go past the pumpkin ravioli, it was delicate and moreish,’ another said.

And another added: ‘At first glance, Casoni looks to be a classic neighbourhood haunt, however, it proves to be so much more. The food, a fusion of Asian and Italian is executed superbly and leaves me wanting more.’
