‘She’s got into sushi, raw fish and whole grain salad’: Fitness fanatic Chloe Madeley has revealed the secrets to her mother Judy Finnigan’s recent weight loss

‘I have to say her diet is now amazing. Her palate has changed. She has got into sushi, raw fish and whole grain salad. She has dropped the pounds naturally.’

Chloe also admitted she is seriously considering freezing her eggs in case she chooses to have children later in life.

Speaking on Thursday’s episode of Loose Women, the fitness author confessed she had looked into the procedure as she isn’t sure if she definitely wants to have a baby, but doesn’t want the choice to be made for her by infertility.

She was joined on the show by her rugby playing beau James Haskell, who revealed the cost of egg freezing had put him off, as he’d rather spend his hard earned pennies on a fancy car.

Chloe explained: ‘I talk about it because I’m 30 now and I really don’t know if I want kids. And I think as a woman, being a 30-year-old woman saying that is quite a big deal to some people.

‘I think a lot of people, my mother included, turn around and say, “What if when you decide you do it’s too late?” So I’m definitely considering freezing my eggs, just in case, just to hedge my bets.

‘But my god is it a lot of money. Tens of thousands…’

Asked whether he felt the same, James reasoned: ‘I guess the same answer’. He went on to quip: ‘I’d probably rather have a Lamborghini than a kid at the moment, but we’ll see.

‘Similar price apparently, [kids] cost about £200,000 until their 18… wrong crowd, sorry. I just do what I’m told to do.’

The cost of freezing eggs In the UK can be between £3,000 and £4,000 for egg collection, scans, freezing and two years of storage.

The process is already available for free in Scotland and Wales, but health trusts have varying policies on whether to fund it in England.

EGG FREEZING: THE FACTS

How are the eggs frozen?

Egg vitrification also called ‘flash freezing’ which can really preserve the egg’s quality. It can preserve up to 80 per cent of the egg’s quality where in the past some 50 per cent might have been lost through older freezing techniques.

Is there an optimum age for egg freezing?

Don’t leave it until after 35 because the age of the egg determines the success of egg freezing. But freezing your eggs is not a guarantee of a baby – you can’t erase the effects of age on a woman’s eggs.

What are the risks?

You will need to take drugs to stimulate your ovaries to produce more eggs than usual and this can in rare cases lead to ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome which can lead to illness, severe pain and even death.

The egg collection process can come with a low risk of vaginal bleeding and internal injury.

What are the costs?

In the UK, women can pay between £3,000 and £4,000 for egg collection, scans, freezing and two years of storage.

Then, when you thaw the eggs there will be additional costs to have fertility treatment.

Then you will need an embryo transfer procedure in which an embryo is put back into your womb (which will hopefully turn unto a pregnancy) which costs about £950.

The couple also discussed their fitness plans, and Chloe was asked if she’d managed to convert her famous TV host parents, Richard, 61, and Judy, 69.

She revealed this wasn’t the case, as she explained: ‘No. I think you learn as you grow up and you’re an adult that your parents are adults too and they’re stubborn and they don’t want to listen to you as much as you don’t want to listen to them.

‘Dad’s always been quite naturally physically active, he’ll go for walks, he’ll bike ride, he hikes a lot in Cornwall. And mum just isn’t interested. She’s just not interested.’

She went on to reveal that Judy has lost weight recently, however, by changing her diet.

‘I have to say, her diet now is amazing,’ Chloe said.

‘Naturally, her palate has changed, she’s gotten really into sushi, raw fish, big multigrain salads and she’s dropped loads of weight just naturally from changing the old meat and potatoes to something healthier.’
