Chloe Roberts: Influencer’s waist gets smaller during a gym tutorial

An Aussie influencer has tearfully denied editing one of her fitness tutorials after her waist appeared to spontaneously shrink during a gym workout.

Chloe Roberts, 21, said she was ‘really upset and angry’ after her Instagram video was picked up by ‘snark’ account Celeb Spellcheck on Monday.

The clip appeared to show Ms Roberts’ waist rapidly becoming slimmer within a second of her lifting weights.

Instagram users mocked the young model for her video, with some speculating she had used ‘body editing software’.

Daily Mail Australia is not suggesting Ms Roberts did this.

‘Glitch in the Matrix!’ one Celeb Spellcheck fan commented, while another wrote: ‘A few seconds in her body editing software kicks in and makes her waist thinner.’

‘Wow look at the editing glitch,’ a third added, as a fourth said: ‘Wow! Instant results!’

Chloe responded after realising she’d been featured on Celeb Spellcheck, telling fans the glitch was actually caused by her new iPhone 13.

She also posted additional footage on Instagram proving she’d done nothing wrong.

‘I have not Photoshopped my waist,’ she said, showing off her ripped abs and slim waist for the camera.

‘I have no need to. There’s literally no reason I would Photoshop my waist.’

Ms Roberts, who has 304,000 followers on Instagram, added: ‘I’ve worked so bloody hard on my body, and I’ve heard the iPhone 13 does glitch when you’re going in and out of ultra wide to not ultra wide.

‘So I’m really angry that people are thinking that’s the case. I can understand by watching the video, it probably looks like that, but I’m standing here right now showing you my waist. I don’t need to [edit]. That’s just the truth. It is what it is.’

She later burst into tears in another video as she protested her innocence.

‘On my phone, it’s done this to me a few times, and it’s switched cameras and it’s changed the magnification. I don’t know why it did that in my video – obviously I wouldn’t have posted it if I knew that, or looked at it even remotely closely,’ she said.

‘I post everything on my social media – I don’t even notice things. I’m really upset, as someone’s trying to rip me down,’ Ms Roberts continued.

‘It’s actually putting me in jeopardy here, as it’s something I’ve worked so bloody hard on.

‘I literally take videos on my camera all the time. I can show you videos on my camera to prove to you that I never have ever edited my body. It puts my reputation in jeopardy.’

She then posted several photos and videos – including one of a zoomed-in avocado which suffered the same glitch – to show what sometimes happens with her camera.

‘I can upload heaps more of those videos I took yesterday to prove it,’ she said. ‘I used to not take photos of my body because I was not confident.

‘I have no problem posting anything body-related, because [I want] young girls to see that there is no issue. It’s me being confident in all of my imperfections, and proud of every single part of my body. I would never jeopardise that by Facetuning a video, ever. I’ve never done it, and I never will.’

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Celeb Spellcheck for further comment. The video of Ms Roberts has since been deleted from the account’s page.

When contacted by Daily Mail Australia, Ms Roberts reiterated she would ‘never jeopardise my fitness and body-confidence journey by editing a video’.

‘I would never want to set unrealistic body standards that are false,’ she said.

‘I work incredibly hard training and fuelling my body to obtain the body I have today and no one can take that away from me.

‘Mostly I just want my followers to never doubt that I keep it 100 per cent real and honest on my channel – nothing is fake. I am so passionate about fitness and health and my ultimate aim is to use my channel to help others on their own path.

‘I’m frustrated that my reputation was put on the line all due to another person trying to enhance theirs; however, I post my workout videos daily and anyone who actually knows me, knows that I would never edit my videos.’

She told her detractors to ‘come down to my gym and watch me train’, adding: ‘You can’t edit the real thing and it’s the exact same as what I put only Instagram.’
