Collingwood staff member tests positive for coronavirus after AFL refused to call off games amid a global pandemic

A Collingwood staff member has tested positive for coronavirus, the AFL club has revealed.

The worker has been in isolation since returning from a trip overseas, the Magpies said in a statement on their website. 

There was no contact between the man and the football department, the report said.

Collingwood said in a statement he was recovering at home and was being monitored by Victoria’s Department of Health and Human Services.

 ‘Due to quarantine requirements, the staff member has at no point been in any contact with players or staff members at Collingwood since returning and has therefore presented no transmission risk to the club,’ the club said.

‘The staff member will not return to the Holden Centre until medically cleared to do so.’
