A police officer was allegedly assaulted while a woman fell three metres out of a window after a fight broke out at a bar.

Emergency services were called to the Hideaway Kitchen and Bar at Broadbeach, on the Gold Coast, at 9.20pm on Saturday.

They arrived to chaotic scenes and two men and a woman were rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital.

A man in his 40s was in a serious condition with head, abdominal and chest injuries, while a man in his 20s was in a stable condition with head injuries and lacerations.

The third person, a woman in her 20s, was in a stable condition with suspected spinal and chest injuries.

She is reportedly one of several people who went through the 2.6m by 1.6m window and fell up to three metres to the ground.

A 21-year-old man was charged with assaulting a police officer and obstructing police at the scene.

‘It will be alleged the 21-year-old Mermaid Waters man continued trying to enter a crime scene before assaulting an officer,’ a Queensland Police spokeswoman said.

The police were initially told one person had fallen through the window, but when officers arrived, they found three people injured outside the bar.

‘They had sustained a number of injuries and a crime scene was declared,’ the spokeswoman said.

The venue’s owner Scott Imlach was ‘dumbfounded’ by the incident, saying there had never previously been a fight there in the seven years he has owned it.

When he was called about it on Saturday night he initially thought there was a mistake, that it must have been some other venue.

Mr Imlach said the incident, which he said ‘definitely wasn’t a bar brawl’ happened upstairs outside the toilets.

‘I spoke to my builder before and he said: “Mate that’s some serious force to go through that window,” – he couldn’t believe it,’ he told the Gold Coast Bulletin.

‘I’m watching the staff clean it up now there’s glass everywhere – it’s a big window, it’s 2.6metres by 1.6metres.

The businessman said police had been into the bar several times last night, but that it was no longer a crime scene and could reopen on Sunday night.

The 21-year-old man who was arrested is due to appear before Southport Magistrates Court on July 10.
