David Morrissey, 59, enjoys a date night with girlfriend Larah Simpson, 31, as they step out hand-in-hand

David Morrissey stepped out hand-in-hand with his girlfriend Larah Simpson in London on Wednesday. 

The actor, 59, who separated from his ex-wife novelist Esther Freud in 2020, enjoyed a date night with theatrical agent Larah, 31 – who is just four years older than his eldest son, Albie.

Heading out, David dressed smartly, opting for a long wool coat that he teamed with grey trousers and tan brogues. 

Larah put on an elegant display in a plunging crop top that she paired with a tiered black midi skirt. 

She topped her look off with a leather jacket and elevated her height with a pair of silver heeled sandals.

David separated from novelist Esther – daughter of artist Lucian Freud and sister of fashion designer Bella Freud – after 26 years in 2020. 

The former couple share three children, sons Albie and Gene, and one daughter named Anna. 

A friend said at the time of their split: ‘It’s a great shame, but they just couldn’t make it work any longer. They are making sure that the interests of their three children come first.’ 

The writer’s great-grandfather psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud, claimed our romantic relationships are modelled on childhood bonds with our parents.

And Esther later suggested her own father was the cause of her marriage breakdown to actor David.

‘My father was a very powerful person, and I learned so much about relationships from him,’ explained Esther to The Daily Mail’s Richard Eden.

‘What was most important to him was work. So in my relationships with men, I never felt I had the right to be more important than work.

‘That affected me and really ran my marriage. I could never say: “I need you.” ’

Last year, The Mail on Sunday revealed Esther had found love with Gerry Simpson, a London School of Economics professor. Despite sharing his name, Larah is not believed to be related.

In June 2022, David was linked to Domino Pateman, 38, a director at a gender-equality charity.

The pair were pictured with their arms around each other as they browsed stalls at a fair in north London after popping to a pub.

Halifax-born Miss Pateman works for the Women of the World Foundation and was previously the arts co-ordinator at London’s Southbank Centre.
