Dominic Fike reveals whether he will be a part of Euphoria’s third season after saying the show’s sober coach failed him

Fans of Euphoria celebrated when news broke that the popular Max series was returning for its third and final season.

However, the cast may miss one major character — Dominic Fike’s Elliot — and he revealed why in a recent interview with Variety at Sundance.

The singer–songwriter, 28, joined the cast of the drama for season two and while he thinks it would be ‘dope’ to continue his role, he’s unsure if he’ll be invited back.

Things weren’t looking particularly positive, as he admitted: ‘I don’t really talk to them anymore.’

In art imitating life, Fike’s character is a drug addict who leads Rue (Zendaya) and Jules (Hunter Schafer) to relapse into their own addictions.

And Fike almost got kicked off the show for his own issues with drugs, which is a bit ironic, given the fact that he was high on mushrooms during his audition for the show.

To get into character, Fike took shrooms. ‘I started peaking right when me and Barbie were reading,’ he told GQ.

‘I was heavily addicted to so many drugs,’ he said of that time in his life. ‘Trying to make a f***ing album in the midst of that much pressure, the drugs, my family being insane, and me being insane, was impossible.’

So when he was offered the role — after producers heard he’d gone to rehab — the production got him a sober coach.

‘I actually am a pretty big drug addict myself, believe it or not. When I was on Euphoria, they kind of just gave me a coach who would just talk to you. It was just some random lady,’ he told Variety.

She was ‘a random lady that i’d never relate to. We had nothing in common. We didn’t come from the same places or the same problems. It was hard to take advice from someone like that or give a shit.’

Fike is at Sundance to show his new movie Little Death in which he also plays a drug addict.

This time it was easier and he didn’t need a sober coach because the film is the directorial debut of his friend Jack Begert.

Compar(ed to the ‘random lady’ who acted as his sober coach on Euphoria, working with a friend made it easier for him.

‘Jack is one of my best friends so it made it a lot easier, obviously,’ he said.

In Little Death, Fike plays a taco trunk owner searching for his next opioid fix.

The film co-stars Friends’ David Schwimmer, 57,  as a screenwriter having a midlife identity crisis.
