A driver has cheated death twice while crossing a flowing river as a crocodile swam past his tiny car.

The driver took on the infamous Cahills Crossing in the Northern Territory on Thursday.

Heart stopping footage of the incident shows the tiny yellow car with water flowing up to its doors.

Kakadu National Parks tourism and visitor services manager Leanne Paige told NT News she couldn’t believe the driver attempted to get across the river.

‘Obviously this is not the kind of behaviour we are looking to encounter,’ she said.

The crossing hit high tide on Thursday, when Kakadu National Park staff captured the footage.

Cahills Crossing is notorious crocodile sighting. A 47-year-old man was killed by a croc when walking across the river in January.
