  • When they approached the car, they could smell a strong stench of alcohol
  • The driver, 42, initially blew 0.288 but back at the station, he blew 0.314  

A drunk diver who blew six times over the legal limit laughed in the face of police before he lost his license. 

Police noticed two men driving while not wearing seatbelts shortly at 5.50pm on Friday in the small town of Whitton in New South Wales.

When the police approached the vehicle and spoke to the 42-year-old driver, they noticed a ‘strong odour of intoxicating liquor.’

The driver initially blew a reading of 0.288 during a roadside breath test and was arrested and taken to Leeton Police Station. 

He took another breath test while at the station and blew 0.314 and told police,’that’s mad.’

The man’s license was suspended by police. 

His passenger received an infringement for not wearing a seatbelt.  

The driver will appear before Leeton Local Court in September for driving with a high range prescribed concentration of alcohol and seatbelt offences.
