Emmerdale fans claim Claudette’s lies not unveiled after injury deceit

‘She’s hiding something!’ Emmerdale fans convinced there’s more than meets the eye with Charles’s mother Claudette as she confesses she’s homeless after lying about back injury

Emmerdale viewers were left very suspicious of Charles Anderson’s mother Claudette as she finally confessed to her devious lies over her back pain.

Claudette (Flo Wilson) has been staying in her vicar son Charles’s (Kevin Mathurin) home, with her family doting on her after she complained she could hardly move due to an injured back.

However, after Charles’ GP partner, Dr Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) checked her over, she became convinced Claudette was not telling the truth, and during Tuesday’s episode caught Claudette red handed when she walked in on her dancing with a jar of biscuits in the kitchen.

When Charles returned home, Manpreet unleashed the truth, prompting Claudette to lie further and convince him it was in fact Manpreet who was telling tall tales, only for her to break down and eventually tell her son she was in fact homeless and had nowhere to go if he asked her to leave.

Viewers were not so convinced and took to Twitter to insist there was more to Claudette than meets the eye.

One person asked: ‘Is Claudette telling full story? She is hiding something?’

While someone else insisted: ‘Charles’ mum literally proven she’s a liar, so she damn well better provide evidence. The moment she tried that “no more questions” bull, she’d find herself landing on the road outside before she finished the sentence.’

‘Don’t listen to her Charles, your mum is talking rubbish,’ exclaimed another soap fan.

While someone else posted: ‘Oooh has Claudette been a naughty old biddy. Did she get kicked out of her home for nastiness? Did she gamble it away? These & others answer on your next episode of……’

One other unconvinced audience member at home wrote: ‘You have to lie to your son for him to put you up? Your son is a vicar.’

Someone else shared: ‘Claudette’s lost her home, yet she’s acting nasty to Manpreet. That’s not a way of living at Charles house.’

‘Telling lies all the time. Nothing changes with the new or old characters,’ remarked another viewer.

Claudette first arrived in the village last week to visit Charles but found an excuse to stay when her back started hurting.

She had been milking her injury with Charles and his daughter Naomi Walters (Karene Peter) running round to meet her every need.

However, Claudette was caught out on Tuesday after going in search of some hobnobs and getting caught dancing with the biscuit jar in the kitchen by Manpreet.

Manpreet was left seething and even questioned her own sanity when Claudette accused her of being the liar, with Charles unsure who to believe.

But Claudette eventually broke down and admitted she was homeless, insisting to Charles she had nowhere to go.

She explained: ‘I lied about my back so I could stay longer because I lost my house.

‘I thought it was the only way Charles would let me stay with him. No more questions, please!’

While Charles was left baffled, he insisted she had nothing to worry about as she had a roof over her head while staying with him.

Emmerdale airs earlier than its usual slot at 7pm this week on ITV1 and ITVX.
