Eric and Lara Trump pose for Westchester Magazine spread

Eric and Lara Trump are looking to have more children in the future, but how many more is still up to debate.

The couple opened up about their family and raising their eight-month-old son, Luke, in their Hudson Valley home while posing for a spread featured in Westchester Magazine.

During their joint interview, Eric, 34, joked that he may need the digital recording as a reminder to Lara, 35, that she is open to having more than two children.

‘She was always set on just one more. But you heard her; you’ve got the comments on tape — she said “at least two kids!”‘ he said, prompting Lara to reply: ‘I’m not making any promises.’

The couple welcomed their son in September 2017, and the proud parents often share photos and videos of their first child on their social media pages.

‘Eric is a great dad,’ Lara said, ‘and I always knew he would be because — I know it may sound crazy — but I saw how he was with our dogs and how much he cared about them.’

Although the animal love was admittedly content with turning their ‘house into a zoo,’ Eric said Lara ‘fell in love with Luke immediately.’

Eric and Lara split their time between their homes in New York City and Westchester County, and they both can seem themselves raising Luke in Briarcliff Manor.

‘I love the idea of raising our son, or hopefully our children, in a place like Westchester. Great people, great schools, so many activities,’ Lara said.

Although Weschester has become a bit of a sanctuary to them, they are no longer able to fly under the radar like they once did before Eric’s father, Donald Trump, became the 45th President of the United States.

‘Every day, you get abused by somebody,’ Eric said of the media coverage in this divisive political climate, ‘and the next thing you know, you’re being parodied on Saturday Night Live.’

Eric said he expects and accepts that he and his older siblings Donald Jr. and Ivanka face criticism for aligning themselves with their father, but he doesn’t think his 24-year-old sister Tiffany and 12-year-old brother Barron should face the same scrutiny.

‘We are adults; we’ve developed a bit of an armor,’ he said, ‘but Barron and Tiffany should be 100 per cent off-limits.’

Despite the constant attention and scrutiny, Eric said that Westchester residents have been supportive of his family overall. So much so, that he and his wife are often asked to take selfies with the locals.

Growing up, Eric spent a large portion of his childhood at Seven Springs, the lavish Westchester mansion that his father purchased in 1995.

‘Westchester had a major impact on my life,’ he said. ‘I went to school in the city, but I was in Westchester on the weekends and over the summers. It was my place to go to get away from everything.’

Although Eric went to school in New York City, he spent his weekends and summers at their Westchester home — where he and his brother Donald Jr. were often put to work restoring and maintaining the 230-acre property.

The real estate mogul said the physical labor taught him the ‘building blocks’ of what he does now, noting that the work also kept them ‘away from the-less-than healthy nonsense’ that their friends got into.

While home repairs come naturally to Eric, he admitted that his wife once suggested he call an electrician when she came home and found him doing electrical work in their closet out of fear that he was going to hurt himself.

However, Eric simply reminded her that he is a ‘builder’ and this is what he does.

‘Eric can fix anything,’ Lara said. ‘He’s much handier than anyone I’ve ever dated.’

The area means so much to Eric that he actually proposed to Lara at Seven Springs during a hike, after five years of dating.

Lara, who grew up in North Carolina, was new to New York when they first started dating, and she wasn’t initially keen on spending her time in Westchester. However, she quickly fell in love with the area when she realized how much it meant to him.

The mother-of-one is an accomplished equestrian, and one of her favorite things to do in the area is ride horses at a barn in Northern Westchester. She actually broke two of her wrists horseback riding and needed surgery just weeks before her 2014 wedding to Eric.

However, despite her injuries, their wedding was held at the Trump family’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, without a hitch.

Lara simply concealed her casts with a pair of satin covers that resembled evening gloves, and Eric said he doesn’t thing ‘anyone could really tell that she was injured.’

‘You couldn’t have told me that day that I had broken wrists,’ his wife added. ‘We had the best wedding ever.’

Lara is both outdoorsy and athletic, and in addition to horseback riding, she also runs, works out with a trainer, and competes in triathlons. In March, she finished fifth in the age group in the Las Olas Triathlon in Florida.

She completed the race in two hours and sixteen minutes — six months after she gave birth. When she finished the same triathlon the year before, she was pregnant with Luke.

‘She is nutty,’ Eric said affectionately, noting that he is actually the one in their immediate family that hasn’t completed a triathlon.

Although they spend a great deal of time in New York City and Mar-a-Lago, Lara said their home in Westchester is their ‘favorite place to be.’

‘Our friends make fun of us because we love simply spending time at our house by ourselves,’ she admitted. ‘They are always asking us to join them on trips here and there, and we just say we’re going to stay home. We love it.’

Eric took to Twitter lats Wednesday to share a photo of the spread and thank the magazine for the glowing profile.

‘Thank you @WestchesterMag for the wonderful profile!’ he wrote. ‘@LaraLeaTrump and I (and Luke, Charlie and Ben) really enjoyed spending time with you at @TrumpNationalNY.’
