Erling Haaland’s sensational 2019-20 season has convinced a former coach that he can become an even better version of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The 19-year-old began the season largely unknown before his sensational Champions League group stage performances for RB Salzburg caught the world’s attention.
Snapped up by Borussia Dortmund in January with Europe’s elite chasing his signature, Haaland stormed to 40 goals in 33 games by the start of the European lockdown, scoring on average every 55 minutes.

Macek believes Haaland is even better than fellow Scandinavian Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Stanislav Macek, who worked with Haaland at Salzburg, believes the teen’s career could even surpass the success of Swedish great Ibrahimovic.
‘He is a modern Ibrahimovic. I would say he is much better in his movement, quicker. He has a great mentality in how to face games and his profession,’ Macek told AS.
‘I think that he has made a big move. He is one of the best in Germany.
Haaland’s scoring form at Dortmund has ensured all of Europe’s top clubs are watching him
Zinedine Zidane could have the striker at his disposal, with Real Madrid favourites to sign him
‘If he keeps progressing like he is, for sure, we will see him at a bigger club again in no time such as Madrid. The best have always played at Madrid and Haaland is one of them. He is a footballer made for Madrid without a doubt.
Ibrahimovic has dominated defences across Europe for top clubs, including Barcelona, Inter Milan, Manchester United and PSG.
A similar move for Haaland – who is the same height as Ibrahimovic – looks to be around the corner, with Real Madrid keeping tabs on him as a successor to frontman Karim Benzema.
The Spanish giants are reportedly favourites to sign the teen, considering a £75m move to bring the future superstar to the Bernabeu.
