Ex-girlfriend of Purdue basketball star files suit claiming he gave her chlamydia and herpes

A Purdue University basketball player has been sued for $1million by a former lover, who claims he gave her chlamydia and herpes after lying about getting tested.

Alyssa Chambers filed the civil suit on Tuesday in Tippecanoe County, Indiana, alleging she contracted the sexually transmitted diseases following a May 15, 2017 liaison with Haas.

Chambers discovered she’d been infected about two weeks later, according to court documents reported by the Purdue Exponent student newspaper.

The explosive suit includes purported text messages between Haas, Chambers, and another former lover of the basketball player, Madison Millsaps. Millsaps and Purdue University are also named as defendants in the suit.

Isaac Haas, a 7-foot-2, 290-pound senior at Purdue, was named in the lawsuit filed by former girlfriend Alyssa Chambers on Tuesday in Tippecanoe County, Indiana

Chlamydia is curable with antibiotics but herpes is not.

The text messages include exchanges between Chambers and Millsaps, who apparently reached out to Chambers to tell her that Haas had not been ‘formally tested’ for STDs.

‘A friend of mine was infected by haas too… the list is LONG,’ Millsaps claimed in provocative message to Chambers, who did not appear to know who Millsaps was.

Another exchange between Millsaps and Haas is included, in which Haas pleads with her to try to ‘talk her down’ – an apparent reference to dissuading Chambers from pursuing legal action.

Haas frets in the exchange that he will be criminally charged and be sentenced to ‘6 months to 50 years depending on the extremity of the disease’.

Indiana state law specifically mentions warning sex partners about having HIV and Hepatitis B, complications from which could prove deadly, but does not mention herpes, making a criminal case unlikely.

The main symptoms of herpes are painful blisters and sores and pain when urinating. There is medication to prevent and shorten outbreaks, but once infected there is no cure.

In another message to Chambers, Millsaps backpedaled on her claims.

‘… A lot of stuff you heard from me wasn’t true because I was mad at Isaac, and I was trying to intentionally f**k with you,’ Millsaps wrote.

The lawsuit quotes an alleged text from Haas to Chambers blaming Purdue University Student Health because it ‘told me I was clean.’

Haas could not be reached for comment on the case.

A 7-foot-2, 290-pound center, Haas was a third-team all-Big Ten selection last season as a senior.

He was not included in the Sports Illustrated list of the top 80 NBA Draft prospects last month.
