Steven Brandenberger, 38, faces charges of eavesdropping and video voyeurism

A firefighter is facing voyeurism charges after allegedly installing cameras to spy on his female roommate in her bedroom and bathroom.

Steven Brandenberger was arrested Monday on charges of eavesdropping and video voyeurism of a person older than 19.

The 38-year-old of Seminole County, Florida, has since been relieved of duty from the Orange County Fire Rescue department.

The alleged victim told police a friend of hers was using her bathroom and noticed one of the cameras in her air vent.

He sent her a photo of the camera, but when she returned home the camera was gone and a hole left behind, she told police.

The affidavit went on: ‘Inside this hole were wires which were attached to more wires that lead into the attic. There was also what looked like a microphone or small camera in the hole which she disconnected and took out.’

The roommate said she checked the air vent in her room and discovered another camera facing her bed, according to the police report.

The victim contacted police and began moving her belongings out of the house.

When Brandenberger’s mother, who owns the property, asked the woman why she was leaving she told her about the cameras.

According to the police report, Brandenberger told his mother the devices were ‘just sensors’. Deputy Kimberly Moore wrote in the affidavit that the mother believes the cameras ‘were wired into the home’s security system’, that her son monitored.
