Florida girl beats up classmate in Snapchat live stream

A 14-year-old girl in Florida is shown beating up a 13-year-old who was a new student at her school in a shocking new video taken on Sunday.

Eight classmates watched the assault without interfering and some recorded it. Detectives found the footage on Snapchat.

The 14-year-old seen throwing punches in the video attacked her new classmate because she believed the girl was spreading rumors about her on a social media platform that allows users to leave comments anonymously, WPTV West Palm Beach reported.

However, law enforcement officials believe that the girl she beat up was not the person who had made the comments.

The victim can be heard in one of the videos of the incident saying, ‘I didn’t say that!’ right before she repeatedly gets punched in the head.

Although much of the footage is bleeped out, the girl throwing punches can be heard accusing the victim of talking about her.

The girls are enrolled in the Martin County public school system, which responded to the incident saying it would try to separate the two girls involved as much as possible.

The victim’s family had only recently moved to Martin County, and the 13-year-old who was attacked had only been attending her new school for one week when the assault happened.

The victim's mother told WPTV West Palm Beach that her daughter was covered in bruises after the assault

The victim, pictured here on the ground, was a new student at the school her attacker attends

The victim’s mother told WPTV West Palm Beach that her daughter does not want to go to school anymore.

‘She’s scared to go back to school, and a school is supposed to be a safe zone for a kid.’

The mother, whose identity has not been revealed, also talked about how difficult it was to watch the footage of her daughter being attacked.

The victim's mother also said her daughter was experiencing headaches because some of her hair was ripped out during the attack

The attacker believed the victim was spreading rumors about her, but law enforcement officials believe the attacker was mistaking the victim for another person

The attacker was arrested and charged with misdemeanor battery

She said: ‘This was animal behavior. My daughter was assaulted. She didn’t fight back at all – nothing – just screamed, “Help!”

‘I wanted to throw up. I was so angry. I was devastated. Eight other kids sat there and recorded it and watched my daughter.

‘She wouldn’t hurt a fly,’ she said, crying. ‘She didn’t even try to hit the girl back and kick her. Why would they pick on someone like her?’

The victim has a swollen jaw and bruises, and her mother said she was experiencing headaches because her attacker ripped out some of her hair.

Her attacker was arrested and charged only with misdemeanor battery since none of the victim’s bones were broken.

Martin County Sheriff William Snyder told WPTV West Palm Beach: ‘That is still a first-degree misdemeanor. That is something that will be on this child’s record the rest of her life.’
