The skies above South Yorkshire may not have been anything but blanket grey on a rainy September afternoon…but the weather didn’t dictate the colour-scheme for racegoers heading to Ladies Day at Doncaster Races on Thursday.

The historic race meet welcomed a glamorous carousel of bright colours and extravagant hats – including feathers and fascinators – with many clearly hoping to go home with not just winnings but also one of the event’s coveted style awards.

Revellers at the four-day meet, which kicked off yesterday, were seen enjoying glasses of fizz and attractions including virtual reality horse racing.
