Gym pervert blames sexual frustrations for filming woman on the toilet at Snap Fitness

Gym pervert installs secret camera to film women as they went to the toilet at Snap Fitness – because ‘he was sexually frustrated in his 19-year marriage’

  • Shane William Cairns, 47, was caught red-handed while adjusting the camera
  • Cairns filmed a woman as she went to the gym toilet, at Mt Pleasant, Qld
  • The pervert’s lawyer put it down to sexual frustrations in the marital unit
  • The father-of-three pleaded guilty to recording a person’s anal or genital area

A disgraced father-of-three filmed women as they went to the bathroom at a gym – because he was sexually frustrated within his marriage.

Shane William Cairns entered Snap Fitness on the morning of May 28 when he fixed a secret camera to underneath the sink of a unisex toilet in Mt Pleasant, Queensland.

The vision shows Cairns, in a black singlet and red board shorts, adjusting his camera to optimum position.

The disgraced pervert was caught red-handed at global gym franchise Snap Fitness, who alerted police after the woman filmed reported the incident to management

Minutes later, a woman was filmed as she went to the toilet.

At 9.17am, she spotted Cairns’ ‘secret’ camera and reported it to management.

When police arrived at the family home, where Cairns lives with his wife of 19 years, he tried to claim that the camera had already been fixed to the sink.

But last week, the man faced court and pleaded guilty to filming another person’s anal or genital area in Mackay Magistrate’s Court.

Mr Cairns’ lawyer put it down to intimacy issues and financial stress at home.

‘There was some sexual issues in the relationship,’ his lawyer, Danny Yarrow told The Mercury.

Yarrow said it was out of character for his client, who has no prior convictions.

Sherleen Chand, a senior lawyer with Sydney Criminal Lawyers told Daily Mail Australia that the laws against surveillance are intricate, and therefore urges those affected to seek legal advice.

‘If someone has filmed you in a private space without your permission and has published the footage,’ she says, ‘it is recommended you speak with a criminal defence lawyer directly.’

Mr Cairns is due to be sentenced on Friday.

Daily Mail Australia approached Snap Fitness for comment but have not responded.

Not so secret? Mr Cairns used a small and discreet camera to carry out his perverse surveillance, but he was nonetheless caught by the first woman he filmed
