Harry Redknapp has admitted that it was ‘difficult’ for his family when his son Jamie divorced his wife Louise, because neither of their parents’ marriages had ended in such a way.
The former football manager, 75, said that neither his son or daughter-in-law were ‘used’ to the idea of divorce, but he and his wife Sandra swore they would ‘never interfere’.
Speaking to The Times, Harry added that despite the challenges of Jamie’s divorce, everyone has managed to stay on good terms, and the footballer has now moved on with his new wife Frida Andersson.

In a joint interview with his wife Sandra, Harry reflected on Jamie’s divorce from Louise in 2017 after 19 years of marriage.
He said: ‘It was difficult when Jamie and Louise [Redknapp, a pop star] got divorced because both sets of our parents were married until they died, so we weren’t used to that.
‘We tried to never interfere, though, and have all managed to stay friends. Everyone seems happy now.’

During the interview, Harry and his wife Sandra also reflected on their own marriage, after publishing a book documenting their love story.
Reflecting on their own family life, Sandra added: ‘I’ve tried to make life easy for him because his job has been so stressful.
‘When we had babies, fathers didn’t do a lot and Harry never changed a nappy, but he would take them for a walk in the pram to get them to sleep. When they became toddlers, he always had them with him.’
Back in August, Louise admitted she hasn’t dated anyone since her split from Jamie, because her focus has been her two sons Charley, 18, and Beau, 13.

Speaking to HELLO! about life four years on from her divorce, Louise confessed the split and Jamie’s new marriage have had a lasting impact on their sons.
‘I’ve felt this as a mum and, to say this in the most sort of respectful way, my boys’ lives changed dramatically and then it changed again when obviously Jamie got married and had a family,’ she explained.
Explaining why she hasn’t dated recently, Louise pointed out: ‘Their life changed and I felt like I needed to be their one staple.’

‘That’s just something I think a lot of mums would feel.’
Revealing she’s ‘not trawling through dating sites,’ Louise said ‘I’m not averse to dating or meeting somebody.’
‘My boys will be absolutely fine if I’m dating or if I’m going out with anyone, they will be my biggest supporters as long as I’m happy. Like they’re like, ‘Yeah mum, you should.”’

Frida and Jamie share seven children between them, with the model also mum to four children with her ex-husband, American hedge fund manager Jonathan Lourie.
Louise and Jamie reunited last month as they both paid tribute to their son Charley as he headed to his school’s leavers’ dinner before his move to Arizona for college this month.
The singer took to Instagram to share some pictures of herself with her lookalike son as he wore a smart black suit with a red bow tie.
Former Eternal star Louise wrote: ‘So proud of my boy and my best friend. School leavers dinner tonight. Next stop Uni.’
