Hugh Jackman, 49, launches into a sprint at Bondi

He’s known for playing roles including Wolverine in the X-Men films, and known for his love of exercise. 

And Hugh Jackman, 49, proved just how fit he is when he took a dip at Bondi Beach this week. 

The Hollywood hunk left the water and launched into a fast sprint, as he ran up to his belongings on the beach.

The Australian star went shirtless and wore a pair of board shorts, looking incredibly muscly and ripped. 

He was joined in the ocean by some friends and daughter Ava, 12, who also ran along the sand with her father. 

Hugh appeared in high spirits and smiled and laughed as he ran.

Hugh is in Australia to promote The Greatest Showman, his new film. 

The personality played Wolverine one last time in 2017’s Logan, and has spoken about how he had to physically prepare for the role. 

He had to look leaner for his struggling character, but still ripped. 

He did a ‘dehydration regime’ according to GQ, which included drinking a lot of water and then not drinking water.

Meanwhile this week, Hugh sparked retirement concerns when he said his promotional duties for The Greatest Showman will be followed by ‘a period of unemployment.’  

‘I’m really proud of everything I’ve done,’ he told The Fix. 

‘But I want to just take a little time to reflect, to just reassess and see where I head from here.’   

Known for his unrelenting workaholism and dedication to spending time with fans, the interviewer struggled to even think of what Hugh would do with ‘spare time.’

An excited smile swept across his face, as he thought about having to do nothing for the first time in years.   

‘I’ll tell you tomorrow!’ he beamed, ‘It [unemployment] starts tomorrow.’

‘Um, I love to read and I love the outdoors and I’m probably a quieter person than you’d think,’ he reflected.

Continuing to list of the possibilities, he added: ‘I like to cook I like the theatre, what else do I love? I like sport…’
