Pastry lovers have lined up outside the Lune croissanterie in Melbourne’s trendy inner-city suburb of Fitzroy to get their hands on a limited-edition pastry.

The bakery is known for the buttery goodness of their croissants, as well as the incredible flavour variations, but this week they have something extra on the menu.

Hibiscus Cruffins, to celebrate KitchenAid’s colour of the year, also dubbed hibiscus – a hot-pink edition to the brand’s world-famous mixers and blenders.

The first 50 pastry lovers who went to the Fitzroy store on Saturday were given one of the tasty cruffins to try, but they can be bought in store until February 17.

This is the fifth year of KitchenAid’s ‘colour of the year’ and the brightest yet: A vivid fuchsia with a matte finish, it’s inspired by the captivating beauty of the hibiscus flower in a verdant garden.

‘When a hibiscus flower blooms, it attracts hummingbirds, butterflies, and dragonflies alike thanks to its nectar. A shared interest can truly bring together all walks of life,’ said Rebecca Edwards, Marketing Director for KitchenAid in Australia and New Zealand.

‘This inspired the energetic 2023 Colour of the Year, hibiscus. hibiscus exemplifies the creative exchanges that we see between Makers across the world, everyday, around their collective passion for experimentation in the kitchen.’

The cruffin even has a pink hibiscus on the top

The brand uses the ‘power of colour’ to comment on global trends and culture while inspiring people to get creative in the kitchen.

‘We’ve been tracking the evolution of the colour pink since 2017,’ said Brittni Pertijs, lead colour, material & finish designer for  KitchenAid.

‘Beginning with Millennial Pink and advancing to deeper hues as of late, pink is bringing boldness to life in its colour and energy,’ she added.

KitchenAid Hibiscus Cruffins will be available for purchase at Lune stores located in Armadale, Fitzroy, Melbourne CBD, Brisbane CBD, and South Brisbane for one week only from 11th to 17th February.
