Iranian supporters have been doing their very best to put Cristiano Ronaldo off his game ahead of their crucial World Cup clash with Portugal on Monday night.

The Portugal captain has been in scintillating form in Russia, scoring four goals and currently sits second in the race for the Golden Boot – behind Harry Kane – leaving Iran fans petrified at the very sight of him.

And as Iran hope to do the unthinkable and dump Ronaldo and Portugal out of the tournament when they they face-off at the Mordovia Arena on Monday, they have sought to deprive the Real Madrid superstar and his team-mates of their sleep.

Footage published on YouTube shows fans gathered outside the team hotel crashing on drums and playing trumpets into the early hours of Monday morning.

Whether or not the stunt worked or not will be discovered following the conclusion of their showdown later that day, however, it is clear that they did manage to hinder Ronaldo’s preparations for the game.

The skipper sought to halt the chanting supporters as he was forced to come to his bedroom window and silence his taunters by gesturing with his finger.
