Jackie ‘O’ Henderson mean prank on her sweet mother Julie backfires: I’m sorry this is your stupid daughter’s idea’

Jackie ‘O’ Henderson’s mother said she felt like a ‘mug’ after her daughter and her KIIS FM co-host Kyle Sandilands pranked her on Wednesday. 

The radio presenters decided to test out just how believable AI (Artificial Intelligence) voices are and Jackie’s sweet mum Julie was the guinea pig.  

As there are thousands of hours of Jackie and Kyle’s voice online, the AI technology used these recordings to create an artificial version of their voices and anyone can put in any sentence to make it sound like they said it.  

On Wednesday morning’s show, the duo called Julie and asked her to urgently dog sit Jackie’s dog using the AI voice. 

Although it did sound like Jackie, it was pretty robotic, so she and Kyle were shocked when her mother actually fell for it.

‘Hi mum, it’s Jackie,’ the AI voice said.  ‘Can you come down and look after the dog next week?’

When she said yes, the voice then said: ‘Oh great when can you come down?’

Her mother was none the wiser, and said she of course could do that but she was slightly suspicious of why it was so urgent.  

The AI Jackie then said: ‘Please mum I have a lot going on’ and then Julie gave in saying she could travel to Sydney from The Gold Coast on Friday. 

It was then that the real Jackie intercepted and she was delighted she fooled her mother.

Kyle then apologised to Julie for pranking her, saying: ‘I’m sorry this is your stupid daughter’s idea, that was an AI version of your daughter it wasn’t her.’

An upset Julie then said: ‘I thought it sounded slightly stilted. And you knew I would be a mug?’

They got the AI voice to ask him the same questions, however they didn’t change the word ‘mum’ to ‘dad’ so it was pretty obvious it wasn’t Jackie. 

Before finding out what was going on, Tony was confused and started cursing down the phone and then said: ‘That’s not Jackie that’s someone else!’ 

After being told it was an AI voice, Jackie’s father said he wasn’t surprised, adding: ‘That’s not even you! You were using AI were you? I could tell.’
