Jadon Sancho taken off for tactical reasons during Bayern Munich thrashing

‘I had to go on what I was seeing… it was not good enough’: Jadon Sancho hooked after 36 MINUTES in Bayern Munich thrashing as Lucien Favre confirms Borussia Dortmund ace was NOT injured

Jadon Sancho was hooked after just 36 minutes as Borussia Dortmund were thrashed 4-0 by Bayern Munich.

The England winger put in an anonymous display, causing Dortmund manager Lucien Favre to lose patience and replace him with Raphael Guerreiro with his team trailing 1-0 at the time.

It was initially feared that Sancho had left the field injured having been a doubt for the Bundesliga fixture after injuring his hamstring in Dortmund’s midweek Champions League win over Inter Milan.

But Favre confirmed afterwards that Sancho was not suffering an injury and was taken off for tactical reasons.

‘He was not injured, he trained yesterday. I had to go on what I was seeing and, to be honest, it was not good enough,’ Favre said.

Moments earlier, Sancho had stormed through the mixed zone with his hood raised and refused to speak to waiting journalists.

The fact Sancho hasn’t aggravated his injury is at least good news for England manager Gareth Southgate ahead of the national team’s two concluding Euro 2020 qualifiers against Montenegro on Thursday and Kosovo next Sunday.

Bayern dominated the game from start to finish, with Robert Lewandowski scoring twice, Serge Gnabry also finding the net and a Mats Hummels own goal completing a victory that lifted them within a point of top spot.
