The Dukes of Hazzard star gave a speech at the 37th Annual Footwear News Achievement Awards in New York City on Wednesday.
During an interview with People at the event, she revealed that she splits her time between her family’s home in Los Angeles and their rental home in Nashville.
‘I’m back and forth a lot so now they know what it’s like to miss me and I feel very loved,’ she said.
Jessica and her family moved to Nashville over the summer so that she could refocus on her career in music away from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles.
‘They helped me find a house [in Nashville], we all moved there, they picked their rooms, that type of stuff, but they’re in school so I have two weeks [in Nashville], two weeks home,’ she told the outlet.
But now that her kids Maxwell Drew, 11, Ace Knute, 10, and Birdie Mae, four, are back in school they are in Los Angeles with their dad Eric Johnson, 44.
The Newlyweds star dished on how her daughter Maxwell helped her have a different perspective on beauty.
She explained that her eldest child is very interested in the ‘glow up’ videos on TikTok.
‘She is very much into the glow-up stuff, how to better yourself. I had to have her explain it to me the other day, because I thought it was literally putting highlighter on her cheeks,’ Simpson told Footwear News.
‘She said, “Mom, no, it’s your inner glow and how to glow up everything in your life.” Wow, that’s a beautiful concept. If that’s what you’re learning on TikTok, keep going — but just know, those are all filters.’

And Simpson, who has new music dropping in 2024 and she’s excited to share her music with her kids – especially now that they are a little older.
‘I was too nervous to go back into other careers that are my passion until I felt like they were confident enough in school and in life before I would step foot on stage,’ she told People in August.
‘It’s crazy, the responsibility to feel as a parent, but really I look to them and they teach me so much. They’re teaching me to be brave,’ she added, saying that her three kids are ‘very excited’ for her.
‘They know that I’m living my dream and that that’s what I was born to do,’ she continued. ‘And so to have them experience that with me is going to be really beautiful.’
