Jonah Hill clashes with Eddie Murphy as he attempts to marry his daughter in Netflix’s new comedy

Jonah Hill desperately attempts to woo his fiancee’s parents (Eddie Murphy and Nia Long), after an awkward first impression, in Netflix’s new comedy You People.

After fatefully meeting his partner (Lauren London) by mistakenly entering her car instead of an Uber, the 39-year-old’s character, Ezra Cohen, embarks on a whirlwind romance after years of trying to find his soul mate. 

In the early days of their romance he tells his friends that he has ‘never felt so understood’ in his ‘entire life.’

After meeting Murphy, who plays his girlfriend’s disapproving father, Hill tells London that her dad ‘hates him.’

‘Can you honestly say your family’s excited to have my Black a** in the picture?’ she asks. 

When she comes over to meet his mom and dad, Hill’s mother (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) is seemingly overjoyed to meet their son’s new girlfriend and gush that she is ‘beautiful.’

Hill seems embarrassed and closes his eyes and holds his breath to try and relax. 

The film, which Jonah co-wrote with the director, Black-ish creator Kenya Barris, is set to be released straight to streaming on Netflix on January 27. 

Jonah and Eddie’s families ‘find themselves examining modern love and family dynamics amidst clashing cultures, societal expectations and generational differences,’ according to the official synopsis.

The film also stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus and David Duchovny as Jonah’s progressive Jewish parents.
