Jono Castano, Simone Holtznagel and Konrad Bień-Stephen live it up at Splendour In The Grass

The first day of Splendour in the Grass was cancelled due to extreme weather hitting Byron Bay, with punters left trawling through thigh-deep mud.

The same couldn’t be said of celebrities at the event, with A-listers relaxing in glamorous branded tents and sipping free drinks while others struggled to stay dry.

The glamorous tents were open to everybody, but it seems that many of the revellers were unaware of this.

Model Simone Holtznagel posed alongside her celebrity trainer boyfriend Jono Castano and Bachelorette star Konrad Bień-Stephen as they indulged at the Smirnoff Vodka Seltzer Springs tent on Friday.

Posting to her social media, the 29-year-old beamed as she sipped complementary beverages from the brand.

Cuddling up to Jono and smiling for a selfie with Konrad, Simone appeared oblivious to the treacherous conditions outside.

In the posts, she documented the glamourous surroundings, the rainy weather kept at bay thanks to the cosy indoor venue.

‘In the interest of patron safety and in consultation with all relevant emergency services, we have decided to err on the side of caution and cancel performances on the main stages today only.’

Organisers have urged day travellers to avoid making their way to the festival and told people already at the grounds to make the most of the venues that are open.

‘Please relax and enjoy what is open,’ organisers said. ‘Day patrons are asked not to attend the festival today while we work on repairs.’

Revellers who had been waiting hours for the free shuttle to take them from Tweed Heads to the music festival were informed at the bus stop the first day of the festival was likely to be cancelled – moments before organisers officially called it off.

‘The information that has just come through to me, it is likely due to the unforeseen circumstances down at site, that all performances will be cancelled today,’ a worker says in a video.
