Justin Theroux and Aubrey Plaza head to his NYC apartment

He announced his split from wife Jennifer Aniston just a month ago and Justin Theroux was pictured stepping out in New York with Parks And Recreation star Aubrey Plaza.

The pair were seen walking around the area, a little apart from one another, as Justin, 46, wheeled his fancy gold Supreme bicycle along the sidewalk.

In 2017, Aubrey, 33, was still dating long-term love, screenwriter Jeff Baena, 40, but they haven’t been pictured together in over a year.

Hanging out: Justin Theroux stepped out with Parks And Recreation star Aubrey Plaza on Sunday… a month after he announced his split from wife Jennifer Aniston

Aubrey and Justin are likely to have known one another for years, as he guest-starred on the Galentine’s Day episode of Parks And Recreation alongside her in 2012.

Justin famously played the love interest of Amy Poehler’s character Leslie, and the episode was the most watched of the whole of the second season.

During their outing on Sunday, Justin kept a low profile wearing an all-black ensemble, with a knitted hat and sunglasses. Aubrey wore workout leggings and a Barbour coat, completing her look with a baseball cap.

A source told MailOnline: ‘They are friends. They went for a walk around after meeting and discussing a potential work project.’

MailOnline has contacted a spokesperson for both Justin Theroux and Aubrey Plaza for further information.

The pictures come after sources told People that since his split, he has been busy ‘doing his thing in NYC.’

They said: ‘Now, he’s apparently just enjoying the single life in New York and sticking to a pretty basic routine. He’s just doing his thing. He eats at the same time, goes to the same places, hangs with the same people.

‘He’s been hosting and attending a lot of different friendly gatherings. He is trying to keep himself around friends a lot more than he used to — he’s not at home thinking about his divorce.’

All over: Justin and Jennifer, 49, have not been pictured since they officially announced their split last month, although they really split at the end of last year - pictured in April 2017

He and Jennifer, 49, have not been pictured since they officially announced their split last month, although they really split at the end of last year.

They said at the time: ‘In an effort to reduce any further speculation, we have decided to announce our separation. This decision was mutual and lovingly made at the end of last year.

‘We are two best friends who have decided to part ways as a couple, but look forward to continuing our cherished friendship.

Last month, it was reported that Justin was seeing 25-year-old artist Petra Collins, the director behind Selena Gomez's off-beat Fetish music video, as it's been reported he is 'doing his thing in New York'

‘Normally we would do this privately, but given that the gossip industry cannot resist an opportunity to speculate and invent, we wanted to convey the truth directly.

‘Whatever else is printed about us that is not directly from us, is someone else’s fictional narrative. Above all, we are determined to maintain the deep respect and love that we have for one another.’

And UsWeekly is claiming that the actors, who started dating in 2010 on the Atlanta set of the comedy Wanderlust, and married in 2015, have ‘rarely spoken’ since they told fans they are heading to the divorce courts.

The magazine also maintained that the Friends star ‘isn’t thinking about dating either’ as other outlets insist she has rekindled her relationship with ex-husband Brad Pitt.

And it’s likely she is house-hunting too as there have been many reports she will list the Bel-Air mansion she shared with Theroux.

One clear sign that she is dumping the massive spread is that she featured it on the cover of Architectural Digest, a move celebrities make before they list a property.

Last month, it was reported that Justin was seeing 25-year-old artist Petra Collins, the director behind Selena Gomez’s off-beat Fetish music video.

The Mute actor is apparently ‘obsessed’ with Collins, who he’s been enjoying ‘cozy dinner dates’ with, Star reported.

A source said: ‘Justin and Petra have been carrying on for some time. He insists that they’re just ‘friends,’ but he seems obsessed with her, and Jen isn’t buying it.’

Last month the actor tagged Petra in one of his Instagram photos shortly before his split from Aniston was announced.

Meanwhile, Aubrey has previously spoken about how she ‘falls in love’ with both ‘girls and guys’.

In a light-hearted but hard-hitting chat with American LGBT-interest magazine The Advocate, the actress said ‘I can’t help it’.

The interview touched upon Aubrey’s occasional crushes on female stars, her gay friendships, and also her popularity within the gay community, of which she said: ‘It makes sense to me.’

Explaining that she had no issue with other women trying to chat her up, the Parks And Recreations star said: ‘I know I have an androgynous thing going on, and there’s something masculine about my energy.

‘Girls are into me — that’s no secret. Hey, I’m into them too. I fall in love with girls and guys. I can’t help it.’

‘I feel like I operate in an old-school way that only gays truly understand,’ she said of herself. ‘So for me it’s the ultimate compliment [to be popular within gay culture].

‘My tastes are like an older gay man’s, and I think that’s who I really am. Like, I grew up obsessed with Judy Garland, and I was also obsessed with how much she meant to her following.’

The actress also talked about playing a lesbian martial arts instructor in her previous film Addicted To Fresno.

‘It was less about pretending to be a lesbian and more about portraying a human being with a massive crush on Natasha Lyonne’s character.

‘Natasha’s a friend, and she called me up, like, “Do you want to come do a movie and make out with me?” I have a major crush on her in real life, so it was fun.’

Meanwhile, Aubrey and Jeff Baena have plenty of history together. They worked together on 2014 movie, The Little Hours, with Aubrey producing for the first time, according to Indie Wire.

The pair first collaborated on Jeff’s 2014 directorial debut, zombie comedy, Life After Beth, and she also appeared in his 2016 follow-up, Joshy.

Aubrey said at the time: ‘Honestly, it was a very organic role for me to take on, because I’ve been in every one of Jeff’s films. I’ve been there from the beginning of every idea because we’re together.

‘We’re working on it even when we’re not working on it. It just made sense. Also, we shot in the middle of nowhere. Jeff and I had to be hosting this experience together.

‘We had to take on those leadership roles, whether we wanted to or not. We had the entire cast and crew flying out to rural Tuscany. I couldn’t just be like, “I’m just an actor! Woo”!’
