Kendall Gilding: Veteran Seven star officially signs off after shocking fans by quitting following 12 years with the network

Veteran Channel Seven presenter Kendall Gilding has officially signed off after 12 years on-air. 

The newsreader, 32, who finished up the role on December 29, posted several  photos to share her last working week with the network, and to commemorate all the friends she made in the job. 

One showed Kendall in the studio with her two young children and another captured her behind the news desk for the last time. 

‘Looking back on my last week of work. It’s all about the people! Even in business – it’s always about people!’ she wrote in the caption.

‘This Friday will be my final day. I’m reading the 6pm news all week. Praying this isn’t a moment of insanity, but rather a radical step of bravery,’ she began.

Kendall quashed rumours she was stepping away from the role to become a full-time mother.

‘I’m not becoming a stay at home mum, I don’t plan on leaving media. I’m looking forward to a huge 2024 – ready to work harder than ever! Stay tuned,’ she added.

It was reported Kendall won’t be continuing behind the Queensland news desk ‘after failing to come to terms on a new contract’ according to TV Blackbox.

Kendall is well-known to Queensland viewers, hosting the 4pm News bulletin each weekday.

She began her journalism career in 2011 as a presenter on Brisbane radio station 96five Family Radio and later that year she began working for Seven.
