Kimberly Guilfoyle slams ex-husband Gavin Newsom on Fox News

Kimberly Guilfoyle and her former spouse California Governor Gavin Newsom are at war after she called him ‘unrecognizable’ following his comments that she ‘fell prey’ to Fox News culture. Guilfoyle, 53, appeared on The Charle Kirk Show on Wednesday to discuss her ex-husband after he bashed her on a CNN podcast for becoming a right-wing host.

The pair were married for five years before officially splitting up in 2006 when Guilfoyle accepted a job in New York for a news outlet before heading to Fox, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Guilfoyle has been a registered ‘proud Republican and conservative’ since she was 18. She claimed Newsom, 55, knew this about her when they tied the knot. ‘I didn’t change, [Newsom] did,’ Guilfoyle told Kirk. ‘He used to be so proud to fight for small business, for entrepreneurs, for those hard-working men and women. And he’s fallen prey to the left, the radical left, that is pushing him so far to the left that it’s unrecognizable.’

Guilfoyle’s response came after she received several notifications warning her about what her husband said on ‘The Axe Files’ podcast on Tuesday. Newsom (pictured) described his ex-wife as ambitious and ‘whip-smart’ and that she used to hang out with big Democratic figures when he started his term as Mayor of San Francisco in 2004 before she ‘changed.’ ‘She was a different person,’ Newsom said. ‘She was working for a progressive district attorney.’ He added: ‘We were close to Kamala [Harris], she knew her well, and she was spending a lot of time in Democratic circles.’

‘She had her ambition, I just got elected mayor, and days after I was elected mayor, she moved to New York for a Court TV gig, and then eventually Fox. She fell prey, I think, to the culture at Fox in a deep way,’ Newsom said. ‘She would disagree with that assessment, she would perhaps suggest that she found the light.’ Guilfoyle worked at Fox until 2018 when she resigned to work on Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.

She has gained traction as a right-wing influencer, especially after she got engaged to Donald Trump Jr. in 2020. Meanwhile, Newsom remarried in 2008 to actress Jennifer Siebel Newsom, 48. The two share four kids together.

Newsom recently won re-election as governor of the Golden State in November. Speculation that the governor may extend his political portfolio has been circulating as he maintains a national profile and runs campaign ads beyond California. Political pundits believe Newsom may be lining himself up as a successor to President Biden, 79, despite Biden’s insistence he isn’t too old to stand for a second term in 2024. If Newsom decides to run for president, he will be up against Donald Trump, Guilfoyle’s soon to be father-in-law.
