Lara Parker dead at 84: Actress who starred in ABC soap opera Dark Shadows passes away in her sleep at her home in LA

Lara Parker, the actress best known for her years long role in the spooky soap opera Dark Shadows has died.

She was 84.  

Her agent announced the former actress had passed away in her sleep Thursday, according to The Hollywood Reporter, just a weeks before her 85th birthday. 

Born Mary Lamar Rickey in Knoxville, Tennessee.

She was educated at Vassar, where she earned her BA, and received her Masters of Arts degree from the University of Iowa in speech and drama. 

Parker’ breakthrough in Hollywood came when she was cast as Angelique Bouchard, a vengeful witch who spent centuries in a love-hate relationship with Jonathan Frid’s Barnabas Collins on the gothic ABC drama.

She reprised the role in the 1971 film Night of Dark Shadows. 

Parker had a small part in the 2012 comedy Dark Shadows starring Johnny Depp.
