Leopardstown racegoers defy the drizzly weather in daring dresses as they arrive for Student’s Day

Brave racegoers defied drizzly weather in Dublin today as they donned their finery for Student’s Day at Leopardstown.

The Student Race Day returned today for an afternoon of thrilling racing, fashion, and entertainment at the racecourse.

A highlight of the student calendar, the high-spirited event is welcoming punters for the first time since 2020 after the pandemic forced organisers to hold the past two years behind closed doors.

Sheltering under umbrellas and jackets, attendees arriving at the racecourse in Ireland for the event, opted for a dazzling array of dresses and colourful coats for the big day out.

As well as eight great races including the Listed Gradguide Heritage Stakes, students are set to enjoy a multitude of entertainment, including the Jack & Jones and JJXX Best Dressed competition.

And it appeared many students had pulled out all the stops in their hopes of winning the cash prize on the big day out.

Beneath umbrellas and heavy jackets were racegoers dressed in an array of colourful ensembles, with some braving the downpour in bare legs and high heels while trying desperately to keep their elaborate outfits dry.

Despite the downpours, most of the men and women arriving for the day of racing action managed to look cheerful.

In a nod to the previously sunny weather, many donned frocks in vibrant hues of pinks and yellows, while some opted for softer floral patterns.

Others opted for bodycon dresses in a rainbow of colours, amping up the glamour with bouncy blow drys, fake tans and lashings of mascara and false eyelashes.

And not to be outdone, men also put their best fashion foot forward in stylish suits.
