Burnley ‘in the chase to sign Divock Origi’ with the Liverpool striker at the heart of a ‘three-club tug-of-war’ with Italian sides Fiorentina and Atalanta also interested in making a move

  • Divock Origi could be on his way out of Anfield this month with clubs interested
  • Burnley are in need of a striker after selling Chris Wood to Newcastle this month
  • Italian sides Fiorentina and Atalanta are also said to be interested in the Belgian

Liverpool striker Divock Origi could be on his way out of Anfield before deadline day with three clubs said to be interested in signing him.

The 26-year-old has found his chances limited at Liverpool this season making ten appearances in all competitions in which he has scored five goals.

Origi, who signed for Liverpool in 2014 and famously scored in their 2019 Champions League final win, is a free agent in the summer when his contract expires.

The Sun have reported that there is a three-way tussle to sign the Belgian, with Premier League side Burnley facing stiff competition from Serie A sides Atalanta and Fiorentina.

Burnley are in the chase for a striker after they sold Chris Wood to fellow relegation battling Newcastle for £25m earlier this month.

Wolfsburg striker Wout Weghorst is also being eyed up by Sean Dyche’s side with the club holding positive talks with the Dutch international.

Fiorentina are in a similar position to Burnley in that they are in need of a striker after selling one during the January transfer window.

Dusan Vlahovic, who had scored 20 goals in 24 appearances for Fiorentina this season, was sold to Serie A rivals Juventus for £62m.

Atalanta have also made their interest known as they wait on offers for Duvan Zapata.

Despite his lack of game-time, Origi has become a cult hero at Liverpool since joining the club for £10m from Lille in 2014.

This is in big part due to his exploits in the Reds’ Champions League winning campaign during the 2018-19 season.

The Belgian scored twice during Liverpool’s famous 4-0 second leg victory over Barcelona in the semi-finals before sealing the victory in the final with their second goal against Tottenham.

Liverpool meanwhile are closing in on a £37m move for Porto ace Luis Diaz who is set to sign a five-year deal at Anfield.

The 25-year-old who is currently on international duty with Colombia, completed his medicals in Argentina on Saturday evening.
