‘The concerned parents of the young boy found wandering in Highett early this morning have come forward,’ police said in a statement.

‘Police wish to thank the media and public for their assistance.

‘We will not be facilitating any further media in relation to this.’

A close friend of the parents claimed on Facebook that the young boy had a tendency of wandering off.

‘The parents of this little boy are wonderful people and would do anything for him. They probably thought he was safe in bed,’ she wrote.
