Man, 39, is decapitated by machinery after getting caught in a ‘pinch-point’ while cleaning a chiller at Tyson Foods chicken processing plant in Alabama

Carlos Lynn, 39, an employee of a food safety contractor, was decapitated Tuesday while cleaning machinery at an Alabama chicken-processing plant
An Alabama worker was beheaded while cleaning equipment at a chicken processing plant on Tuesday.
Barbour County Coroner Chip Chapman identified the victim as Carlos Lynn, 39, of Eufaula, Alabama.
Lynn worked for Packers Sanitation Services Inc, a food safety company which was contracted to clean machinery inside a plant owned by Tyson Foods in Baker Hill.
Chapman said at around 5.30pm on Tuesday, Lynn and another worker were cleaning a piece of equipment known as a ‘chiller’, used to cool chickens, when Lynn got caught in a ‘pinch point.’
According to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, a pinch point is any area where a person or a part of a person’s body can get caught between machinery that’s either stationary or moving.
Lynn was pronounced dead at the scene. Chapman revealed the cause of death was decapitation.

Tyson Foods released a statement saying the company is investigating the accident.
PSSI spokesperson Gina Swenson also addressed Lynn’s death in a statement issued on Wednesday to Eufaula Tribune.
‘We are devastated by the loss of our friend and team member, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time,’ it read in part. ‘We take an accident like this very seriously and we are working with local authorities to understand how it could have happened, given the strict safety protocols we have in place.’
