An elderly Korean man accused of grabbing a child’s genitals at a public swimming pool wants his bail conditions changed so he can keep doing aqua aerobics at the centre.

Young Hwan Yoo, 70, allegedly grabbed the genitals of an eight-year-old boy at Willoughby Leisure Centre in Sydney’s lower north shore earlier in March.

He was arrested after police viewed CCTV footage, and charged with one count of intentionally sexually touching a child under 10 years of age.

While Yoo did not enter a plea when he fronted Hornsby Local Court Wednesday, the court heard he intended to change his bail conditions so he could return to the pool.

Outside of court, Yoo refused to comment on the case.

‘What happened in the swimming pool?’ a 7News reporter asked Yoo.

The 70-year-old waved his hand and brushed aside the question before he walked away.

His lawyer Jae Park commented briefly and said his client intended to defend the charge.

‘I’m not going to say much at this stage, but I can say the matter will be defended. Some explanation will be given by my client.’
