Manhunt underway for two young Indigenous men who escaped from a prison overnight just before they were due to be released

  • Grant Moore, 24, and Brendon Payne, 23, escaped from an Alice Springs jail
  • Moore was wearing a green T-shirt and has ‘GP’ tattooed on his forearm
  • Payne is 170cm tall and was wearing a green T-shirt and cream-coloured pants

A manhunt is underway for two men in their 20s who evaded security and escaped from jail.

Grant Moore, 24, and Brendon Payne, 23, escaped from a reintegration accommodation the Alice Springs Correctional Centre between 8.20pm and 11pm last night.

Moore is 160cm tall and has ‘GP’ tattooed on his forearm.

Payne is 170cm tall and is missing a front tooth.

Both men are Indigenous and were last seen wearing green T-shirts and cream-coloured pants. 

Police warned anyone who sees the men not to approach them and to contact authorities immediately.

Reintegration accommodation helps prisoners return to the community at the end of their sentence.
