Atletico Madrid star Marcos Llorente revealed he has dealt with lockdown boredom by watching repeats of his Champions League heroics against Liverpool.

The 25-year-old struck twice at Anfield to knock out the reigning European champions in dramatic fashion – in what proved to be the last clash in England before the coronavirus pandemic brought sport to a halt.

And during the subsequent three-month suspension, Llorente has turned to taking in his game-changing performance.

Llorente capitalised on a horror mistake from Adrian to sweep in a low effort for Atletico’s crucial away goal, and was on target again before Alvaro Morata ensured Liverpool’s knockout.

‘We all enjoyed that night a lot. I’ve watched it a good few times in these last few months,’ Llorente told Spanish radio station Cadena Ser.

‘At home I’ve had all the time in the world and every time I see it the hairs on my skin stand up. I’ve watched the whole match a couple of times and extra time three or four.’

Llorente has largely struggled to make an impact at Atletico since joining from Real Madrid last year, having netting just three goals.

But his finest performance in the club jersey undoubtably came against Liverpool, and Llorente has ensured he will forever be able to remember the occasion.

The playmaker revealed on Instagram, just a few weeks after dealing the knockout blow to Jurgen Klopp’s men, that he had even named his dog Anfield.

Llorente also auctioned off the shirt in which he scored twice against Liverpool to help raise money for Spain’s battle with coronavirus.

He donated the jersey to ACB as part of their ‘La Mejor Asistencia’ initiative, which was founded to help the nation cope during the pandemic.

The shirt eventually sold for €8,100 (approximately £7,000) and helped raise important funds for the charity.
