Maryland man, 30, is arrested ‘for trying to ABDUCT middle school child as they waited for bus until youngster’s friends rushed to their aid and chased the creep away’

A Maryland man has been arrested after trying to abduct a middle school child waiting at a bus stop to get to school.

Jamaal German, 30, is accused of grabbing a Redland Middle School student on Towne Crest Drive, in Gaithersburg, Maryland, on Monday morning.

The victim, aged between 11 to 13, was standing at the bus stop with friends at 7.20am when Germany grabbed them and pulled them towards an apartment building.

Brave students also waiting at the bus stop jumped in to stop the attempted abduction and the victim was able to break free.

According to Maryland Country Police the students boarded and reported the incident to staff who notified the school’s Community Engagement Officer.

Police then arrested Germany and transported him to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.

In a statement, they said: ‘The victim stated that they were standing at the bus stop in the 17600 block of Towne Crest Dr., at approximately 7:20 a.m., when the suspect allegedly grabbed the child and pulled them toward an apartment building.

‘Several students who were standing at the bus stop attempted to intervene and the victim was able to break free.

‘Through the course of the investigation, detectives identified Germany as the suspect.

‘He was arrested and transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit. Bond information is not available at this time.’

A joint letter from the principals at Resnik Elementary, Redland Middle School and Magruder High School informed families of the incident, according to FOX 5 DC.

The principals said: ‘We are writing to share information related to a serious incident that impacted our community on Monday, March 20 and how it was addressed.

‘This morning, there was an attempted abduction of a Redland Middle School student at the bus stop located at the intersection of Towne Crest Drive and Towne Crest Court.

‘An individual tried to pull a student into a residence, but the student was able to get away and board the school bus as it arrived. The student is unharmed.

‘The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) was immediately notified, investigated the incident, and identified a suspect who was taken into custody.

‘There will continue to be an increased security presence by both MCPS and MCPD today and tomorrow at the impacted bus stop.

‘We are sharing this information with all three school communities given that the bus stop where the incident occurred is used by students from these schools.’

The motive for the incident is unclear, and bond information for Germany is not currently available.

Detectives from the Special Victims Investigation Division are asking for anyone who believes that they may have been a victim of Germany to call 240-773-5400.
