Golfers always hope to get a few birdies on the course – but don’t usually expect birdies to get them.

Isaac Couling learned the hard way how territorial fairway wildlife can be when he was attacked by an irate goose during a tournament on Saturday.

Hilarious photos captured the moment the Concord High School, Michigan, teen was chased and knocked down by the angry animal.

After cowering on the grass as the goose pecked at him from above, Isaac got up and tried to run away but tripped and upended himself in spectacular fashion.

The student and his playing partner Devon Pitts were competing at the Madison Tournament at Wolf Creek Golf Course near Adrian, 70 miles southwest of Detroit.

They had just teed off the seventh hole and were walking down the fairway when the goose ambushed them, Blissfield Athletics explained.

‘To the left there was a goose nest and the golfers did a good job of avoiding it but the guard goose (hanging out on the far right) thought differently,’ it said.

‘The goose come from behind him and caught him off guard. He was keeping an eye on the other goose at the time.’

Fortunately, the unlucky teen continued his round of golf after the goose taught him a lesson, with nothing hurt but ‘his pride’.
