Models and guests at Myer’s Spring Fashion Lunch debut the hottest trends for the racing season

Spring has sprung, and if the latest trends are to be believed, we’ll all be donning floral frocks and elaborate millinery all the way to Flemington.

Myer ambassadors took to the runway in a host of bright colours and patterns for the store’s annual Spring Fashion Lunch in Melbourne.

But it was the trends rocked by guests to the iconic event that gave the greatest insight into what the department stores will be offering come race day.

Nadia Bartel rocked a sleek black dress with silver sequins on it and a matching boater hat reminiscent of The Notebook-style costuming

The white and black theme continued with model Brooke Hogan donning a silk tapestry dress and pearl headband and Olympia Valance in a similar white frock with frills

In the past, Myer has made a name for itself thanks to its lavish season launches, flying in international supermodels to walk in their shows held at impressive locations.

In one particular highlight, longtime brand ambassador Jennifer walked the runway for the Autumn Winter 16 launch in Barangaroo in Sydney in a show that involved a fake rainstorm, models on motorbikes and an exclusive dinner for 120 guests.

The brand has decided to take its marketing in a different direction this year, a Myer spokeswoman explained previously.

‘We have evolved our Autumn 2018 events strategy to ensure it is customer-led and focused on in-store experiences and theatre that drive traffic,’ the spokeswoman said.

Meanwhile, Jennifer, who has been the face of the retail giant for 12 years, confirmed to Instagram last month that she will retire in November.

The 34-year-old, who was rumoured to have left over an alleged ‘pay dispute’, spoke highly of the department store – writing: ‘Myer will always hold a special place in my heart’.

News.com.au reported on Wednesday that the the store suffered a record $486million annual loss in 2017-18.
